Night does not fall

In college creative writing, I was taught the importance of “an economy of words” in poetry. “If it takes you ten words to get your meaning across, keep editing until you can say it in five!” This fine poet has learned that lesson well!

Night does not fall,

on your waking eyes,

clouded with thoughts,

of the day gone by,

as you stare,

into the colorless sky,

waiting for the  sun to rise,

again.
