Keep Your Statues Straight

The inscription on the Statue of Liberty says,

“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

It does not say,

“Give me your strong, your rich, your well sponsored yearning for a PhD, The productive cream of your impoverished shore. Send these, the compassionless, well-bred to me, for others I lift my boot and show them the door!”

That’s the inscription on the Statue of Bigotry!

An Extended Conversation

This began as a Mondo on our shared blog- http://www.mondosedoka.com but my counterpart’s reply to my opening demanded a response. So, What once was a Mondo is now something else entirely!

This swirling chaos

of needs, passions, and duties;

dare we title it “A Life”?

~

 And will you accept

Life’s swirling invitation

to step forth and dance?

~

Like any dervish,
I swirl within the whirlwind
powerless to skip that dance!
