Words are Meager Substitute

Poems can harness
The yearnings of aching hearts.
Poems can convey
The glory of a rising sun.
Poems can express
The soaring joy of new passion.
Poems can capture
A moment fleeting in time.
But they must engage
The readers’ frontal cortex.
Some senses bypass this,
Straight to Amygdala they shoot!
To share aroma,
Fragrance of preparing food,
Words are meager substitute.
